Seven Estonian towns are carrying out what is claimed to be Europe's largest concurrent installation of LED street lighting under a scheme funded by the sale of excess carbon permits. The installation scheme in Haapsalu, Jõhvi, Keila, Kuressaare, Paide, Valga and Võru, started in mid-February and will be completed by October 2015.

A project in the region of West Romania is providing a support scheme for eco-innovative and bioeconomy start-ups and small businesses. The project involves the provision of grants, customised consultancy and intellectual property coaching. It is hoped that the result will be the award of new green patents that will bring economic benefits to West Romania, centred on the city of Timisoara.

An Israeli company has developed a rubber recycling process that results in a high quality recycled material that can be used to make a wide range of products. The method could help create new markets for recycled rubber, which can usually only be used for low-grade applications.
